Turning the Annual Report into a Storyteller
Ztory designed the annual report 2020 for Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) with the theme 'Design Redefined', changing the usual style of the annual report that the organisation uses. Adopting new arrangements with rich contents and visual elements, the annual report garnered positive reviews. The following year, HKDC collaborated with Ztory again, designing the annual report themed 'Co-creating Human-centred Futures'.

What We Did
- Book Design
In view of the success of last year’s annual report, Ztory adopted the arrangement style of magazines again. Focusing on the theme this year, the design concept of 'New Designs, New Ideas' was proposed. The main point of this annual report is using dialogue where quotes are captured regarding the stakeholders and the audiences.
Break the Rules
Moreover, Ztory made a breakthrough on the cover design. In the past, simple lines and shapes were mostly used on the cover of the annual reports as the main illustration. As for this year’s cover, human interactions were shown, accompanied by the “d” from the logo of HKDC. It symbolised that people join hands together to make a better future through designs.
A Final Word
Ztory preserved the existing strengths of the last edition and presented it in a more personalised way for this edition, narrowing the gap with the audience. To conclude, design needs not only to be aesthetically appealing, but more importantly, to be user-friendly. With this in mind, this could produce outstanding entries that are popular.
